H1N1 Influenza A - Important Information for Our Community Official Grand Opening of the CT Suite 2009 Audited Financial Statements Stevenson Memorial Welcomes Full Time Radiologist 2009 Annual General Meeting - Reports
Stevenson Memorial Hospital is located in the community of Alliston, in the Town of New Tecumseth, Ontario. Situated one hour north of downtown Toronto, this fully accredited hospital is in the heart of central Ontario. SMH serves a catchment area that includes Adjala-Tosorontio, Canadian Forces Base Borden, Essa, Innisfil and New Tecumseth. Stevenson Memorial Hospital dates back to 1928, when donations from T.P. Loblaw, of the famed Loblaws grocery chain, conceived the idea of a hospital as a tribute to his grandparents, William and Elizabeth Stevenson. A lot has changed since then. Today the hospital, in partnership with Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario, is in a period of growth and opportunity. Stevenson Memorial offers a wide scope of medical and surgical services. It is on the brink of further expanding its services and has re-introduced high-quality Level 1 maternity care. Here are some of our recent achievements: The hospital has been on the leading edge with recent equipment purchases. When community support provided five new dialysis machines and a water treatment plant, the technology was state of the art with only five other such treatment plants in existence in Canada. High tech ultrasound units, donated to the hospital in 2006, were the first of their kind in the region. Stevenson became a part of the most advanced Picture Archiving and Communications systems in Canada. Commonly referred to as PACS, the system allows for the transmission of digital diagnostic images to physicians and specialists anywhere in Canada, or around the globe, if necessary. The technology is environmentally friendly and addresses time saving and storage issues, all of which make the hospital more efficient. A CT Scanner was purchased and put into place in June of 2009. It is housed in a new addition with it's own waiting area. Every step forward that we take at Stevenson Memorial is intended to improve upon the much-needed health care services we provide, but the ultimate value of our progress is measured in the peace-of-mind that we can give to every single member of our community that we will be here for them when they need us.
