Q - Where is the hospital located? A - Our physical address is 200 Fletcher Crescent, Alliston. Alliston is the largest urban centre in the Town of New Tecumseth. Stevenson Memorial is approximately one hour north of Toronto. See Contact Us or go to Mapquest.
Q - What are your visiting hours? A - Visitors are welcomed from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. See Visitor Services
Q - Can children visit? A - Children over 12 years of age may visit. Siblings of newborns may also visit on the obstetrics unit and special consideration will be given to children with a family member on the palliative care unit. See Visitor Services
Q - What is the parking fee? A - There is a flat fee of five dollars, paid by coins at a central machine in each of the two parking lots (main/visitor parking and lower/staff parking, both accessible from Fletcher Crescent). Fees go towards programs and services at Stevenson Memorial Hospital.
Q - Is there a change machine? A - Yes, a change machine is located at the lower entrance.
Q - Is there a cafeteria? A -Yes. The cafeteria offers full service from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Vending machines are available and the Coffee Corner and Auxiliary gift shop also offer refreshments. See Visitor Services
Q - Is the Emergency Department open 24 hours a day? A - Yes, the ER operates 24/7 and has in excess of 32,000 visits per year. See Programs and Services
Q - Do you have an Obstetrical Unit? A - Yes. The Unit reopened on April 21, 2008 with Dr. Alison Barrett as lead Obstetrician and Gyneacologist. Referrals are through family physicians, other OB/Gyns or the Nurse Practitioner in the Womens Health Clinic at SMH.
Q - Do you have a Dialysis Unit? A - Yes, it opened in 1996. State-of-the-art machines serve approximately 26 patients and the unit offers pre-arranged services to visitors who need dialysis. See Programs and Services
Q - Can I have my cataracts removed at Stevenson Memorial Hospital? A - Yes, our highly successful ophthalmology program is reducing the waiting list for cataract surgery across the region. Patients may see their family physician, optometrist or may self-refer. See Programs and Services
Q - Where do I get a job application? A - Applications are available on the main floor, outside the Human Resources office and online. Available jobs are also posted on this site. See Careers
Q - How do I volunteer? A - All volunteers are members of the SMH Auxiliary. Applications are available in the hospital or online. See How to Volunteer
Q - How do I make a donation to the hospital? A - Donations may be made through the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation which has an office on the lower floor of the hospital.
Q - When was the hospital built? A - The original hospital was constructed in 1927/28. The present building was opened on the same site, June 28, 1964. See History
Q - How is T.P. Loblaw connected to the hospital? A - Mr. Loblaw was born in the community. He provided the original funds to build the hospital in honour of his grandparents, the Stevensons. Coincidentally, Mr. Loblaw was the first patient in the hospital. See History or go to the Museum on the Boyne at for further historical information.
