Welcome Message

Never has the community hospital played a more important role in the health care needs of its community than in today's health care environment. So, how do you provide health care to a growing community that has diverse needs?  You do it with passion, dedication and skill.  That’s what staff, physicians and volunteers strive to do every day at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston.

I am honoured to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of Stevenson Memorial Hospital. This facility is on the brink of opportunity, and I enthusiastically respect and admire the achievements and commitment of Stevenson’s employees, physicians and volunteers.

This is a health care institution with a long history of dedication and hard work. Our Vision is to focus on continuous improvements, integrated health care delivery and innovative services that enhance patient, family and community well-being. In order to fulfill our Vision, we have designated a number of immediate priorities:

  • To meet the needs of our growing community, we must grow our own resources in terms of physicians and equipment.  The Stevenson Memorial Foundation and the SMH Auxiliary are vital in this effort.  Funds raised have provided, and will provide, state-of-the-art equipment, which in turn helps to attract physicians.  The community wins on more than one front when it invests in its hospital and supports these two organizations in their fundraising.
  • One key piece of much-needed equipment was a CT Scanner for our Emergency Department. Stevenson’s “Here’s to Your Good Health” capital campaign worked hard to make this necessity a reality and the CT Suite opened in June of 2009.
  • Stevenson Memorial Hospital and Southlake Regional Health Centre, located in Newmarket, Ontario have agreed to partner together to build a high-quality Level 1 maternity care service. This partnership has allowed Stevenson to re-open its obstetrical program and provide services to women with healthy pregnancies. Southlake, as a Level 2 facility, manages women with moderate- to high-risk pregnancies.

The immediate goal of this entire organization is to position Stevenson Memorial to offer even better service to the community it serves. More than ever, the support of the community is needed to help Stevenson Memorial grow and develop to realize this goal.

We invite you to browse through the pages of our website to see all that is being accomplished by this community hospital.  We hope it will also stir the vision and passion of those who have an interest in Stevenson Memorial Hospital and the surrounding communities.  Working together, we will maintain and strengthen the delivery of health care excellence to every person we serve.

Sincerely,
Gary Ryan
