Visitor Services
Family and friends are welcome to visit patients and the hospital encourages family involvement in the planning and delivery of care to loved ones.
In keeping with our commitment to provide a healthy environment for our patients, staff and visitors, smoking is not allowed anywhere in the hospital. For the protection of patients, visitors with colds, sore throats or infections are discouraged from visiting.
Public telephones are available on the main and lower floors. Cell phones may interfere with sensitive electronic monitoring devices and so their use is not permitted in the hospital.
Contacting a Patient Calls from outside the hospital go through the switchboard at (705) 435 - 6281 or (705) 435 - 3377. Ask for the patient by name or extension number.
Visiting Hours & Policies
Visiting hours are from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Inpatients are allowed only two (2) visitors at a time. A visitor must be over the age of 12. A staff nurse on the respective nursing unit may make exceptions for compassionate reasons. Compassionate reasons may include palliative care patients, critically ill patients, parents of young children, and siblings of a new baby on the obstetrical unit.
Emergency, Surgical Day Care and Outpatient Clinic Patients are allowed to have one person, over the age of 16 to escort them to and from hospital.
Immediate family ONLY are allowed to visit patients on our Cardiac Unit.
Visitors must not have signs of a cold or illness and must not have been in recent contact with communicable disease.We ask all visitors to respect Hospital rules and signage.
Parking Parking is available at a flat fee of $4. Tickets are obtained at machines in the parking lots. Change machines are located at the main floor and the lower level entrances. Please park in designated areas only and be aware of heliport restrictions. Vehicles must be moved when the Medevac helicopter is flying in.
Food and Beverages A cafeteria, located on the lower level, is open 24 hours a day. Full service is available Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. At all other times, vending machines provide a variety of products including hot and cold beverages.
The hospital auxiliary operates a Coffee Corner, which is open 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. Weekend service is also available, though hours vary.
Gift Shop Flowers, toys, magazines, candy and cards are just a few of the items to be found in the gift shop located on the main floor, adjacent to the lobby. The store is operated by SMH auxiliary volunteers. Funds go to the hospital for purchase of special items including medical equipment. Contact the gift shop at extension 2244.

Spiritual Services The Spiritual Services Department provides support to people of every belief or value system. It offers emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families.
Whenever there is a need for spiritual services, please ask staff or the operator to contact the Spiritual Services Department.
