Hospital Statement re: Ministry-Appointed Investigator
On February 7, 2024, the Minister of Health appointed an Investigator to examine operations at Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH). The order allows investigation on all matters related to governance, management operations, and patient care. Over the next four months, the Investigator, Janice Skot, will work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, hospital staff and medical staff, in addition to key stakeholders.
Regular operations and hospital services will continue during the investigation. SMH will continue to work on its redevelopment project with the Ministry while the review is completed.
The SMH Board of Directors and Administration welcome the investigation and look forward to working with the Ministry of Health, Ontario Health and Ms. Skot, as well as receiving the results. The work of this investigation is in the best interests of our hospital and the patients we serve today and in the future.
