Stevenson appoints new President and CEO

(Alliston, Ontario – December 31, 2013) Stevenson Memorial Hospital, through its Board of Directors, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jody Levac as the hospital’s new President and CEO. Levac’s first day at Stevenson will be Monday, January 6, 2014.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am thrilled to welcome Mr. Levac to this important position,” says John Swinden, Stevenson’s Chairman of the Board. “In addition to his extensive leadership and clinical skills within the healthcare sector, he was raised in northern Ontario and understands the unique healthcare needs of small, rural communities.”

Levac comes to Stevenson from Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, where he has held leadership positions within the Mental Health Program since 1999. In addition to earning his undergraduate (1989 – Laurentian University) and Masters degrees (1991 – University of Toronto) in Social Work, he recently earned his Doctorate in Health Administration (DHA) from the University of Phoenix. Levac was awarded the Leadership Award of Excellence at Southlake in 2010.

“Stevenson Memorial Hospital has an active and engaged community that is passionate about healthcare,” says Levac. “I am excited to join the great team at Stevenson and work with its many community partners.”

According to Dr. David Williams, Southlake’s President and CEO, Levac’s appointment is positive for both Stevenson and the community at large. “In addition to his clinical expertise, Jody excels at building positive relationships with everyone he interacts with on a day-to-day basis. I am fully confident that the health and wellbeing of the communities served by Stevenson will benefit tremendously under his superb guidance and leadership.”

During his first few weeks at Stevenson, Levac plans to spend time meeting with hospital staff, physicians, and volunteers.
