It is with great joy that Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH) announces it has signed an agreement with an obstetrician to come to our community.

"We are very excited that an Obstetrician Gynaecologist has agreed to start working in our community within the next few months. Details are being fine tuned, but we expect to have the Birthing Unit open before the summer," said Gary Ryan, Interim President and CEO of SMH.

Closed in December of 2006, the Birthing Unit attracted the attention of the entire community and beyond. The SMH Board had a Community Advisory Committee review the issue and they recommended the re-opening of the Unit.
