Obstetrician/Gynaecologist

Stevenson Memorial Hospital and the community of Alliston/New Tecumseth are seeking an Obstetrician/Gynaecologist for the growing community in South Simcoe. The hospital re-opened its Birthing Unit in 2008 and provides level one, primary care obstetrics. A starting date of late 2011 is anticipated for the third physician.

The ideal candidate will be a confident team player with the leadership skills, initiative, vision and energy to nurture and grow a vibrant and sustainable program along with the current OB/Gyns . Experience in working with midwives and/or a multi-disciplinary team is essential.

A commitment to building, marketing and increasing the program is necessary. There is potential for 400 – 800 births. The program is administered by Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, but takes place in Alliston.

Experience in rural obstetrics is an asset.

Requirements and responsibilities include:

• Must be licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and certified with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
• Applicants must be willing to take call and ideally, should live within 20 minutes of the hospital.
• Fee for service.
