Obstetrician/Gynaecologist

NEEDED IMMEDIATELY

Stevenson Memorial Hospital and the community of Alliston/New Tecumseth are seeking an Obstetrician/Gynaecologist for the growing community in South Simcoe. The hospital re-opened its Birthing Unit in 2008 and provides level one, primary care obstetrics. An immediate starting date is required for a second physician.

The ideal candidate will be a confident team player with the leadership skills, initiative, vision and energy to nurture and grow a vibrant and sustainable program along with the current OB/Gyn. Experience in working with midwives and/or a multi-disciplinary team is essential.

A commitment to building, marketing and increasing the program is necessary. There is potential for 400 – 600 births. The program is administered by Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, but takes place in Alliston.

Experience in rural obstetrics is an asset.

Requirements and responsibilities include:

Must be licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and certified with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

• Applicants must be willing to take call and ideally, should live within 20 minutes of the hospital.
• Office and staff provided
• Fee for service and some additional funding available.

GP - Anaesthetist (1)

Three days of lists and one in four call. There are two ORs and a scope room. Cases include OB/Gyn, General Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Scopes, Dentals and some minor Ortho.

The ideal candidate for this permanent position, should live within 20 minutes of the hospital and could supplement the position with ER work, if so desired.

Relocation assistance available if the candidate moves into the community.

ER Physician

• For Locum and permanent positions.
• AFA in place.
• Currently staffed with family physicians, PGY3 is not a requirement but experience is an asset.
• Approximately 29,000 visits each year.
• General Surgery, Obstetrics and Anaesthesia available 24/7 for back up.
• Second ER physician on call if patients need to be transferred out.
• Air ambulances utilized when necessary.
