The 32-bed medical/surgical unit handles acute care patients, cardiac, paediatric and surgical cases. Well qualified nursing staff participate regularly in continuing education courses and inservices.

There are six monitored and four telemetry cardiac beds, as well as two pediatric and two palliative care beds.

State-of-the-art equipment includes cardiac monitors, saturation monitors and an aatel responder.

A computerized order system and e-mail connect the medical/surgical department to all other departments in the hospital.

The department maintains a close working relationship with community-based associations such as the Community Care Access Centre, Hospice Simcoe and the Canadian Diabetes Association.
