Emergency Department

With 24/7 accessibility through the main entrance, the Emergency Department at Stevenson Memorial Hospital provides quick treatment for patients with unexpected sickness or trauma.  The E.R. team of experts has access to modern diagnostic assessment equipment, which is readily available, including 24/7 CT and X-ray.

The ER department provides a variety of urgent care needs. It also houses a fast-track program for lower acuity patients. These services include:

·         See and Treat program (i.e., patients flow is fast tracked)

·         Trained triage staff to ensure timely quality of care. The triage area was also recently renovated to keep patients visible to staff and to help ensure the safety of patients.

·         12 beds including one trauma room

·         Physician assistants on staff

·         Utilization of both air and land ambulances

During the visit, patients may be seen by a physician in addition to a registered Practical Nurse and/or a Registered Nurse.

The department has approximately 29,000 visits annually. Patients are NOT treated on a first-come, first-serve basis. Instead, they are seen based on their level of need. Although this system can lead to long waits for some patients, it remains the safest and most effective way to deliver care within a busy Emergency Department.

In the event of an emergency, please call 911.

Wait Times

For your convenience, the Emergency Department has a computerized clock in the waiting area to estimate the amount of wait time for patients.
