Obstetrics and Gynecology Programs

At Stevenson, every pregnancy and childbirth experience is a unique and exciting one and we are proud to offer exceptional care close to home. As a Level One facility, Stevenson provides high-quality obstetrical care to women with low-risk, healthy pregnancies and a gestational age of 36 weeks or greater.

We offer two aids for expectant mothers:

Avoiding the chaotic characteristics of regular sized hospitals, Stevenson’s Maternal Child Program offers an atmosphere that is as natural and calm as the community. Our program allows for an authentic, almost home-like, environment for a child delivery to take place.

Our highly-skilled Maternal Child team, comprised of lactation consultants, pediatricians, midwives, nurses, obstetricians, anaesthetists, volunteers and our committed support staff, work closely to provide exceptional care close to home. They are passionate about helping parents build strong, healthy families, and when the time is right, are ready to support you through your personal journey.

Stevenson’s family centered Maternal Child Program respects the philosophy of midwife care and readily welcomes laboring women and their midwives into our facility. The local group of midwives has maintained a positive relationship with the Program since 1995. This allows for a full range of caregiver options for patients as compared to other community hospitals.

With patient satisfaction at100 per cent, it is no wonder that Stevenson has been named the leading small hospital in Ontario.

Appointments with the Obstetrician/Gynecologists can be made by referral from another physician, a midwife or through the Well Women’s Clinic at SMH.
